Why work in Belarus?

Tucked between Poland and Russia, Belarus is Europe’s best-kept secret, surprisingly modern in the right corners, and home to some of the most underrated opportunities in tech, engineering, and innovation.

The cost of living is incredibly low, but the quality of life? Surprisingly high. Belarus is safe. Calm. Clean. You can walk the streets at night without worry, hop on a tram to the forest, and spend your weekends exploring castles, lakes, and Soviet-modernist gems. It’s quiet in the best way.

In Belarus, you’ll enjoy a steady work-life rhythm, a buzzing tech scene, and a lifestyle that’s both calm and full of hidden charm. Perfect for curious souls ready to explore.

Work permit and visa requirements

All foreign nationals must obtain a work permit and a Type D (long-term) visa to work legally in Belarus.

  • The process begins with the employer applying for permission to hire a foreign national.
  • Once approved, the employee applies for a Type D visa using the employer’s invitation letter.
  • After arrival, the employer finalizes the work permit and ensures the employee is registered with local authorities.
  • Work permits are typically valid for up to 1 year and are renewable.
  • All foreigners must register their local address within 10 business days of arriving.

Belarus does not currently offer a digital nomad visa. Remote workers must ensure their stay aligns with tourist or business visa rules, and cannot legally work for a Belarusian entity without a permit.
