The way an engineering team handles documentation also matters more than it used to. High-risk AI systems under the Act require detailed technical records covering training data decisions, model architecture, testing methodologies, and known limitations, and teams that treat documentation as something to catch up on later will find it very difficult to meet these requirements at scale. Hiring engineers who treat it as part of the work rather than an overhead is a meaningful advantage.

Engineers based in Germany, France, or the Netherlands are more likely to have worked in environments where compliance considerations are part of the product conversation from the start, and that context tends to show up in how they approach decisions at the architecture level.
